It was totally random, sometimes the wifi card worked for weeks, sometimes the driver kept crashing for days. I was almost convinced it was an hardware problem.
The only "kind of" solution I found was to hard reset the laptop, but even this wasn't always effective.

Today I finally manged to start the card without rebooting by patching the iwlwifi kernel module as shown here:

https://patchwork.kernel.org/project/li … nical.com/

If the solution works consistently over many reboots I'll post it on the wiki, in the mean time I'm just sharing this Easter egg here.

Re: [SOLVED] Random crashes of Intel Wireless-AC 9560

Of course it was too nice to be true. After recompiling the kernel with the extended timeouts the problem came back again.

The only thing that actually works is this reset script

#!/bin/bash
systemctl stop connman
rmmod iwlmvm iwlwifi
sleep 1s
echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:14.3/reset
sleep 1s
modprobe iwlmvm iwlwifi
sleep 1s
systemctl start connman

This starts to look as my personal blog, but maybe it will help someone.
I opened the laptop, removed the card and plugged it back. Now it's day 6 without crashes.
