can't run anything other than gnome-wayland

i accidentally tried sending ctrl-alt-f3 to a vm, which was sent to my host running arch, and now every other de and wm other than gnome won't work

when i try to run gnome x11 it says that the display isn't set, even though it's set as :0
kde is the only other de that works somewhat, on x11 i can see my mouse and open apps with shortcuts, but all i can see is a blank screen apart from the mouse. checking the logs with journalctl it says
"qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found."
uninstalling and reinstalling qt/libxcb doesn't help with this. on wayland it's even weirder, all the colors are extremely saturated so the screen looks blurry, and whenever i click on anything (i.e. the taskbar) it disappears
other qt applications like duckstation are screwed too, where the emulated screen should be it's completely transparent
every other wm/de greets me with a black screen and nothing else, not even a cursor

sorry if this post is a little hard to decipher, i'm bad at english but please, being forced to use gnome is inhumane :<

Let's make it "decipherabler" - post your system journal and xorg log
* sudo journalctl -b
