Consistent freeze after waking from lid close (after recent update)

Model:
Thinkpad E595

uname -a:
Linux archlinux-laptop 5.17.1-arch1-1 #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon, 28 Mar 2022 20:55:33 +0000 x86_64 GNU/Linux

What happens:
After opening the laptop lid and trying to wake it from suspend, it doesn't respond. The power button light is blinking slowly as if it's still asleep, and strangely the capslock key light is blinking quickly.
So I have to do a hard shutdown, but strangely after the next boot, my touchpad settings are ignored. So the mouse is slow and scrolling is inverted. And to fix this, I have to reboot continuously until it fixes itself.

When this started happening:
About a week ago, maybe two.

I have seen the other threads about suspend issues, but this one seems different. It started only recently and creates this mouse issue that persist between reboots.
My packages are up to date. I use KDE.

Update: The touchpad issue seems to be something unrelated to this, related to KDE, X, and libinput. It happens sometimes even without the freeze.

Re: Consistent freeze after waking from lid close (after recent update)

Same issue here with a Thinkpad T14s. Tagging along, in case anyone has a solution (or providing one, in case I find time to investigate this).

Edit: Just saw this, which sounds like the same issue https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=274292, recommended solution is to downgrade upower which might cause the bug. Corresponding bug tracker issue: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/74387 doesn't seem to be precisely the same problem. Dang.
