virtualbox-host-dkms and virtualbox 6.1.34-1 failed to open a session

Hello,

after an upgrade of virtualbox-host-dkms  6.1.34-1  was installed (I did sudo pacman -Syu). I noticed that all VMs cannot start anymore.

Failed to load R0 module /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxDDR0.r0: Unable to locate imported symbol 'memset' for module 'VBoxDDR0.r0' (VERR_SYMBOL_NOT_FOUND).
Failed to load ring-0 module 'VBoxDDR0.r0' for device 'pci' (VERR_SYMBOL_NOT_FOUND).

After some research I found an official bug report https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/20904

Any suggestions what I can do? Downgrading virtualbox-host-dkms and virtualbox seems the only solution for me.

I have the same problem. We probably need to wait for a fix but others might have a solution.

I ran into this 30 minutes ago.

Downgrade to version 6.1.32 or replace /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxDDR0.r0 with it's version from the 6.1.32 package.

Copying (replacing) /usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxDDR0.r0 from /var/cache/pacman/pkg/virtualbox-6.1.32-2-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst fixes the problem as of now.

Copying "VBoxDDR0.r0" from 6.1.32 didn't work for me. By the way, it is not adviced in VB forum.
But the workaround recently described by Cedric Roijakkers in the bug report https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/74526 has worked for me.
I mean extracting the "VBoxDDR0.r0" file in 6.1.34 version from the original ".run" installer.
It is also consistent with proper version numbering.

Fresh update of mirrors, then Syu fixed it for me.
