[SOLVED] Qtile top half of screen lagging

Laptop: Ideapad Slim 7i Pro
DM: lightdm
WM: Qtile
DE: None

I'm a linux noob. Tried to install qtile and lightdm, but whenever I boot my laptop, the top half of my screen gets laggy when I place my cursor over it. This is the case whether or not I log in. My screen is mostly black when I log in and the items in the bottom right and left of the screen are tiny. Nothing happens when I switch between different tiles.

Is it an issue with the X11 installation?
