[SOLVED] How to create such an icon

Hello, I have a question how to make an icon so that the letter used in it is cut so that the grid can be seen.
Here is the pattern

I've reread this a dozen times and I can't imagine what it means.  Can you elborate?  What's wrong with the image you posted?  Or is that what you want to make just with other letters?

Re: [SOLVED] How to create such an icon

My point is that like creating a new icon in inkscape and after making a circle with an ellipse, I would like to add a symbol or a letter in the middle. This is how to use the same effect as in the screenshot.

Re: [SOLVED] How to create such an icon

Convert both the circle and the letter to paths (Path -> Object to Path). Then select the circle first and letter second (hold Shift), finally use Path -> Difference to subtract the letter shape from the circle.

Nicely done. Some kind of Fraktur-like typeface?

Re: [SOLVED] How to create such an icon

I am inspired by the nouveKDEGray icons theme, but sometimes it is difficult for me to get the same shade despite downloading a color picker.

EDIT.
And this icon made by me is simply a timeshift.
