USBGuard not making sense?

Hii,

so I have a question, I can't seem to think of any real scenario where USBGuard would actually protect me, It seems like too much hassle for nothin
A flashdrive are not automatically mounted and bad usb devices that pretend to be keyboard are useless when the screen is locked
Is there any real scenario where it would actually protect someone from a attack?

Re: USBGuard not making sense?

Consider the use case where you are not the administrator of a system, and that system permits non-admin users to log in in the administrator's absence.  Perhaps the administrator wants to prevent infiltration or exfiltration of data from the system.

Re: USBGuard not making sense?

Ah, that's actually very nice scenario, in that it does make sense,
but in Joe's every day life it probably doesn't make much sense to use it, am I right? (Only one user using the computer, when away screen locked, usb storage not automatically mounted)

Re: USBGuard not making sense?

If Joe receives random usb devices and just plugs them in, then it might be useful.
