[SOLVED] Installer crashing on laptop

Hi,

I am trying to install the latest arch on my laptop but I'm running into some issues. I managed to boot on my USB key, and the arch installer is starting. Around 5 seconds later, the laptop crashes and restarts. I managed once to get a glimpse of arch once (the root@archiso) but it immediately crashed, without any errors or logs.

I then tried to install Fedora, same behaviors (it crashes before I can see Linux). Fedora-Workstation-Live 35 in basic graphics mode starts, but without this basic graphics mode it will just crash and reboot.

Here are the specs of the laptop :

OMEN Laptop 15-en1xxx
16 GB of RAM
processor is an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 with Radeon Graphics
BIOS vendor is AMI with F.10 revision
Embedded controller 75.53
GOP 2.16.0
Video BIOS 94.04.3D.00.BC
Graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop

I'm a bit stuck here, never tried to install Linux on that rig and despite trying different versions of arch and fedora, nothing wants to boot properly. Does anyone have any clues?

Thanks in advance

Re: [SOLVED] Installer crashing on laptop

Try booting with the nomodeset kernel parameter, it's likely nouveau not liking the GPU. Press e on an EFI boot while in the boot menu and add that parameter. Do the install, then install the proprietary nvidia drivers into your final system

Re: [SOLVED] Installer crashing on laptop

Worked perfectly, thanks V1del.

Well I was warned that nvidia and Linux are not really friends, I'll try to install those drivers later
