I was hoping that this regression bug present since Gnome 42.0 would be corrected: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-sh … ssues/5217
Super + P or the corresponding function key for switching monitor allways and only invoque "Mirror" behavior. This is very annoying if the external monitor has a superior resolution and you want to use it as only monitor (for a slide show or a presentation). The bug is supposed to be corrected as mentionned here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-sh … uests/2245 but it is not the case in Arch package version.
Thanks for the follow up!

The bug has been fixed upstream in the development code but there hasn't been a new release since this happened.
Arch will have it next time Gnome release a new update (42.1 doesn't exist yet).

Well, I thought that 42.1 was in yesterday's update as Gnome settings shows me Version 42.1 and also this:
pacman -Qs gnome-desktop
local/gnome-desktop 1:42.1-1
Library with common API for various GNOME modules (GTK3)
local/gnome-desktop-4 1:42.1-1
Library with common API for various GNOME modules (GTK4)
local/gnome-desktop-common 1:42.1-1
Library with common API for various GNOME modules (common files)
but
pacman -Qs gnome-shell
[...]
local/gnome-shell 1:42.0-1 (gnome)
Next generation desktop shell
[...]
I'll still wait!
