[SOLVED] Inconsistencies in sudoers file syntax

As mentioned in the wiki from Sudo :

root            ALL = (ALL:ALL) ALL
%wheel          ALL = (ALL:ALL) ALL

This is the same syntax used in

/etc/sudoers

file shipped with the package.

However,

man sudoers

uses this:

root            ALL = (ALL) ALL
%wheel          ALL = (ALL) ALL

I was asking to see whether the example given in man is correct? https://man.archlinux.org/man/sudoers.5#EXAMPLES

root		ALL = (ALL) ALL
%wheel		ALL = (ALL) ALL

If not and since it doesn't match the current syntax, shouldn't it be updated?

Both are correct. See the `Runas_Spec` section in the sudoers manpage for an explanation of what the part between the parentheses means.
