GnuPG and OpenLDAP

Hello, all!

Can anybody say, why is OpenLDAP required by GnuPG? I couldn't find any use for OpenLDAP, so I have removed this and GPG works without this one too. So, does GPG need any libraries from OpenLDAP-package or is it just a feature?

Re: GnuPG and OpenLDAP

I've never tried but some sources say:

# gnupg 1.2.4
# ===========
# Prerequisites:
# OpenLDAP's libraries (if you want ldap-based keyserver support)
# zlib

As I understand - optional. But if you'd like to try, then this link
http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg- … 17678.html
could  help ?

If that helps...
