No Icons in Qt Applications under XFCE

I'm using XFCE and some time ago backintime (which is a qt application) does not show icons any more, but only the fallback texts.
Now I have another program that is also based on Qt and there the icons are also missing and the missing icon are very annoying  there.

I use the theme adwaita and qt5-svg is installed.

Can anybody help me getting my icons back in qt applications?

I think the Adwaita theme does not provide all of the standard freedesktop.org icons any more[1].  Try using a different icon theme.  I use the "old" GNOME icon theme from AUR[2] and don't have any issues with it.
