How to fix it?

Hey, I faced the same issue.
If you're using PulseAudio then the workaround is to install pipewire-pulse and reboot the system. The audio and video will start working again.
Just check this PulseAudio clients

I change profile to "analog stereo duplex". You have to switch this way every time in the profile. Something is not working properly

I tried for quite a while to get wireplumber working but just gave up and went back to pulseaudio (by installing pulseaudio and pulseaudio-bluetooth, by the way), which works fine. I got to the point where pavucontrol reported that sound was coming out of my speakers, but I couldn't actually hear anything. Pavucontrol and pactl list cards reports my Built-in Audio (alsa_card.platform-broadwell-audio) as only having the "Play HiFi quality Music" profile. I plugged some headphones in and was able to hear something when I turned my sound up all the way, but it was still quiet.
I got these errors from the wireplumber service:
May 11 22:30:38 ArchStrikeTeamBeta wireplumber[2411]: Failed to set scheduler settings: Operation not permitted
May 11 22:30:38 ArchStrikeTeamBeta wireplumber[2411]: <WpSiAudioAdapter:0x55f10f75a060> Object activation aborted: proxy destroyed
May 11 22:30:38 ArchStrikeTeamBeta wireplumber[2411]: <WpSiAudioAdapter:0x55f10f75a060> failed to activate item: Object activation aborted: proxy destroyed
All I could find was people reporting that they got these errors, but that everything still worked fine. So they probably don't have anything to do with my sound issues. If you really want to get pipewire working again, installing pipewire-media-session from the AUR seems like your best bet. I remember finding some "unknown PCM device" issues somewhere along the lines, as well. pipewire.service gave me a lot of "device or resource busy". I'll have to get back to troubleshooting all this when I get some time...
Edit: For the record, my other computer acquiesced to wireplumber fine after installing pipewire-pulse and rebooting, then changing the playback device in pavucontrol for mpv. pipewire.service doesn't report any issues. Still get this for wireplumber.service, though, not that it seems to make any difference:
May 12 00:29:48 ArchStationAlpha wireplumber[1305]: Failed to set scheduler settings: Operation not permitted
Seems to be an issue localised to the sound card on my Dell laptop.

There was an update today
upgraded wireplumber (0.4.10-2 -> 0.4.10-3)
I have no changes. Next I have to switch between channels.
Offline
That update was for allowing pipewire-media-session again, you could switch back to that if wireplumber doesn't work out for some reason. You absolutely do want to switch back to pipewire-media-session if you actually want your audio handled by pulseaudio instead.
Offline
For me, the update does not change anything. There is still a problem with this package. Wireplumber is proposed by the pacman installer. I can use Wireplumber but if it will work.
Offline
wireplumber will only work properly if you actually switch by changing pulseaudio for pipewire-pulse. Pipewire-media-session was intentionally reintroduced and you can install that instead of wireplumber for the use cases where people want to stay on pulseaudio, but not have a broken pipewire for wayland screen sharing.

I have a similar issue, since yesterdays update that on arch linux gnome, sound & video does not work anymore.

but I am not sure at which service or tool the problem is exactly, I suspect pulseaudio / pipewire ?
Anyways sometimes I could get the sound / video to work again by deleting the pulseaudio config, as was recommended by:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/956065/ … es-youtube
Any further ideas on how to resolve this issue ?
greetings

The common solution to this problem has already been mentioned in post #2 - have you tried this already?
Offline
@darsonis as mentioned, if you want to stay on pulseaudio switch to pipewire-media-session. If you want to switch to wireplumber and pipewire in general install pipewire-pulse
Offline
@V1del many thanks for the reply ! yes installing
pipewire-media-session
did resolve my audio issues
i was thinking about switching to pipewire / wireplumber, would i have to uninstall
pulseaudio, pulseaudio-alsa and pulseaudio-bluetooth
and replace it with
pipewire-pulse
?
Offline
yes and pipewire-alsa
