VLC won't play videos or CDs

Sorry for posting again but for some reason VLC will not play any of my disks. I input the disk into the optical drive, VLC is shown as an option to read it, but the disk's contents is never outputted. Is there any way to solve this?

Did you read pacman's output during the installation and take note of the optional dependencies required to play CDs/DVDs?

pacman -Qi vlc

I did not. That was my bad. Which dependencies would I need to run CDs and DVDs?
