Shouldn't we rename nvidia-dkms, nvidia-settings to beta?

Not sure if on the right thread but I just bought a 3080 and have been struggling the whole day to sort out driver issues (what a mission over AMD gpus).
Anyways
Installing nvidia-dkms installs 515.43.04-1. This is exactly what has been causing me problems with games and kde itself. Installing the production version from Nvidia's website. Gives you  510.73.05 . This fixed all my issues.

I had to do a fresh install of PopOS which showed everything working and it was using 510, this is what led me to try on my arch install and nv's website. This means that all the other "packages" should also be changed? nvidia-settings etc.

I don't see where nvidia has 515 for download except for BETA.

So in my opinion nvidia-dkms should use latest stable / production version and instead 515 should be BETA or NEW FEATURE?

I did try posting on this page https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … idia-dkms/ but it's not like the AUR where I can post suggestions. My apologies if in the wrong area just that I think the naming is misleading and this could cause others to struggle. It also means I definitely don't want my drivers updating to beta when I do my next pacman update so I made sure I have no pacman hook.

I couldn't find 510 in any arch package and I think it should be there when thats what NV would give you.

Thanks Seth - this helps. On another Linux forum many users were complaining about stability issues. Most have now after my experience above reverted back to 510.

Thanks also Slithery for the edit. Will pay attention to images in future.
