Firefox causes USB to lockup?

I have no idea what is going on here.
Every so often my USB mouse locks up. The light goes out and it does nothing. Unplugging, changing ports, whatever- still nothing.

In this state, lsusb and cat /proc/bus/usb/devices hang indefinately, and don't die or even become defunct when 'kill -9'ed by root from another shell.

Then, using my PS/2 mouse (it's a laptop), I close firefox. Voila! Mouse lights up and works. Start firefox again and everything is fine. YOU WHAT?

There is nothing in dmesg or /var/log/messages or Xorg.log relating to this issue.

Re: Firefox causes USB to lockup?

After further testing I am convinced that it is the flash plugin that is causing the issue. I should have known. But why? How on earth can flash have anything to do with USB?
