strange sound problem in kaffeine

I have been trying to run avi's with kaffeine.  Everything seems to work great, picutre, music.  But then when someone starts talking, it is muffled, and distorted.  Any idea how to fix it.  I have tried several avi's, and they all do it.

Thanks
David

Are you using the gstreamer or xine backend?

Re: strange sound problem in kaffeine

I am not sure.  I think I have both installed.  How do I tell which one I am using?

also, here is something else that is strange.  When I try running them in mplayer, it gives me this error.

Error opening/initiating the selected video_out (-vo) device

But when I open a movie in epiphany, it used mplayer, and plays just fine.  I don't know if it is related or not.

Re: strange sound problem in kaffeine

Just to let everyone know.  It turns out it was a short in my speaker wire.  It is strange that it would play music fine,  But when someone says anything, it is all messed up.  Anyway there was no problem with kaffeine.  I am still not sure why mplayer is giving me that error though.
