i picked up a new creative sound blaster fx v2 and it actually works, but its a 24 / 192khz. on windows without drivers, it for whatever reason reports 32 bit and is set by default to 32 bit. which causes really bad audio artifacts after a few minutes of playing audio. "fixing" it by simply changing it to 24 bits in the control panel or by installing the creative drivers which actually remove the 32 bit option. on linux, the card is reporting 32 bit and pipewire is defaulting to 32 bit.
its odd since it uses the alc1220 and to my knowledge the alc1220 doesn't even support 32 bit so i really don't know what creative did there but i've tried searching but couldn't really find anything helpful in how to change the bit rate with pipewire. i can only find it for pulseaudio and alsa.

See and relevantly adapt https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/PipeWi … hiit_DACs) if you're using pipewire-media-session or https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/WirePl … figuration for wireplumber where you will want to adjust the audio format property (... seems linking like that will only work in chromium based browsers, you'll want to scroll down there a bit for the relevant option)

thank you very much. i hope in the future they make this more easier to do.

I'm assuming they already consider this to be simple enough and this really is only necessary in special cases like these where the HW reports broken information (which sadly is quite often the case with Creative cards).
In any case if you consider this solved please mark it as such by adding [SOLVED] or so to the thread title.
