[SOLVED] Running locale-gen Cannot Open Locale Definition File 'en_US'

First, some background which may or may not be helpful/useful. I erroneously uncommented en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8 under Examples in the /etc/locale.gen file.

Over the last few months, I began noticing locale errors. For example, glibc was among the upgrades when I upgraded my system today. Following is the error I received:

(  2/100) upgrading glibc                          [##########################] 100%
warning: /etc/locale.gen installed as /etc/locale.gen.pacnew
Generating locales...
  en_US.UTF-8...failed to set locale!
[error] cannot open locale definition file `en_US': No such file or directory

I've also been getting perl warnings during system upgrades about locale settings:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
	LANGUAGE = (unset),
	LC_ALL = (unset),
	LANG = "en_US.UTF-8"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

When I ran the locale-gen command after correcting the /etc/locale.gen file, I received the following error:

Generating locales...
  en_US.UTF-8...failed to set locale!
[error] cannot open locale definition file `en_US': No such file or directory

Output of locale -a on my desktop computer:

locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_COLLATE to default locale: No such file or directory

It shouldn't matter if you uncommented it under Examples or in the list below it.

Post the output of:

# pacman -Qkk glibc

and your /etc/locale.gen file.

The usual suspects are either a NoExtract directive in your pacman.conf or using BleachBit to screw up your system.

I do use BleachBit. What should I not be doing if it is the culprit? I also have a NoExtract directive in my pacman.conf file:

Looking at my replies, I noticed that maybe my NoExtract directive in pacman.conf for usr/share/i18n/locales/* may need refinement.

Update:

Yes, I needed to exclude en_US in my NoExtract directive for usr/share/i18n/locales/*. I reinstalled glibc and /usr/share/i18n/locales now contains en_US.
