I have 3 wifi adapters here. The only one that has ever seen linux support is one I bought many years ago. However I'm having trouble.
I read network manager has the driver.
However network manager.service doesn't exist
When I query the package it says 1.38-1 and my linux kernel version.
Any ideas?

No.
However network manager.service doesn't exist
It's "NetworkManager.service" and if you're using a different network daemon right now, you're gonna make the situation worse by enabling NM on top of it.
8188eu should™ be in 5.15 onwards.
Please post "lsusb", "lspci" and a complete system journal
(lsusb; lspci; sudo journalctl -b) | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.stOffline
I like the resounding "No.".
I appreciate the bluntness with a well detailed explanation.
Issue is resolved I found it in the AUR.

networkmanager is a userspace tool to manage connections, it doesn't provide any drivers by its very nature.
If you need the 8188eu module from the AUR you're using a kernel < 5.15 and by inference not archlinux?
