Issues with Clicking in Unity Editor

So I'm running into a strange issue that most certainly is the fault of Unity somehow, however since they only officially support Ubuntu and this issue hasn't come up before a recent update I thought I might as well ask here for any advice.

So one of the updates that happened between 07.05 and 29.05 must have changed something about how pointers and clicks are handled as before the last update I did, this issue didn't exist.

It seems that after the update no matter the desktop environment (I've tried at least XFCE and Gnome) clicking inside the Unity Editor breaks after a certain time of usage, it simply doesn't register clicks on certain elements anymore. This is certainly an issue with them and how they detect clicking and might actually affect games made by Unity as well (no clue), but its certainly annoying for me that this has suddenly happened.

Anyone got a clue as to what might be responsible for this behaviour? I don't even know how to start debugging this.

Re: Issues with Clicking in Unity Editor

After painstakingly downgrading to 07.05 and then upgrading my way day by day to the current date, it actually wasn't 29.5 that broke it but rather 01.06.

The package in question seems to be:

glib2-2.72.1-1 to glib2-2.72.2-1

No clue what changed there but that broke it.

Re: Issues with Clicking in Unity Editor

I have had the same issue for over two weeks, it doesn't matter what unity version it happens after playing the game in the editor or just after some time being inside the editor.

Is there any fix to this issue?

Re: Issues with Clicking in Unity Editor

What is the unity editor, and how did you install it? I you built from source, try rebuilding.

Only fix I found was to roll back to glib 2.72.1.

Fun fact, rebuilding 2.72.1 from source does still show the issue. This makes me wonder whether the issue is actually in a dependency. I don't really know _which_ one would be the culprit though. I tried bisecting my way through the source but yeah, since the version that works when installed from the archive doesn't show the issue that I get when building via PKGBUILD something is weird.

I've made an issue with glib but it was closed: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/issues/2660

Its a game engine and its accompanying editor which is unfortunately proprietary closed source, so no way to build that from source. (https://unity.com/)

Re: Issues with Clicking in Unity Editor

How do I install 2.72.1 if I didn't have it installed before?
I'm on a fresh Arch Linux install, is there a way to get 2.72.1?

Sorry for a very late response but you can use the downgrade tool from the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/downgrade

or maybe the pkg is cached and then you can use

# pacman -U <path-to-pkg>
