Hi all,
I just finished swapping my old drive with a newer one and rsynced the backup as so: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Rsync# … tem_backup
After I cloned the system and regenerated its fstabs, I booted up the system unable to login. I tried logging in as root on tty2 but I keep getting login incorrect. I tried chrooting and changing my password from there but the message persists. I've noticed that my permissions are kind of funky and get errors such as "/etc/sudo.conf is world writable". Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!
Ps: typing this on my phone. Excuse any possible awkward formatting

What filesystems were involved in the rsync? I sounds like you rsynced to something like NTFS, then back to the new drive.

Yup I sent the backup to an NTFS drive and cloned it back to ext4. I'm guessing that's where I messed up. Any ideas where I could go from here?

All of your permissions are going to be completely screwed up. Personally, I would start over, but maybe someone else has a better idea.

Got it. I'll try to find another way to migrate to the new drive. Thanks for all the help! I'll mark this as solved once I find out how to do so.
