[solved] can I boot an iso file on the fs?

I have a luks container for / but /boot is on a fat partition for UEFI.

I've read in other distro's forums about people putting an iso on the /boot partition (or anywhere) and making a grub entry for it. mine would obviously be /boot since I use luks for /.

I've been going through trial and error, but can't figure it out.

is this possible?
