changing the backlight brightness doesnt afffect the actual brightness

Any atempt to change the brightness fails. Using the GNOME UI or the FN keys will update data in /sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/brightness but the actual brightness of the screen will always be 100%

Device
Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ARH05

System specs
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics (12)
GPU: AMD ATI 05:00.0 Renoir
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile

Aditional data
/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/max_brightness => 255

Re: changing the backlight brightness doesnt afffect the actual brightness

I am experiencing the same on my Dell M7760

I am using xrandr like the following to control it:

xrandr --output DP-4 --brightness .5

For the stock Ubuntu that came on this system the brightness keys seemed to work. I am going to try making a separate Ubuntu install to check how that works
