Black screen freeze after wake from sleep

Hi,

I'm a real Arch noob, as I just setup my first Arch install. My Problem is that after waking from sleep it just stays at a black screen and I can't even start a tty session.

Here is part from the journal log until I hold down the sleep button. Log

Maybe someone can see a problem here, as I don't have any idea.

I use an NVIDA GPU if that matters and "nvidia-drm.modeset=1" is already set in the kernel parameters.

Re: Black screen freeze after wake from sleep

You're on plasma/wayland, doesn the problem exist w/ plasma/X11?

xid 13 is the most generic of them all sad

You could try https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Lin … ement.html

Yes you are right with X11 suspending and waking works normally, so I guess it is an issue with wayland and NVIDIA. I did found out though that if suspend from tty, I can wake the computer back into tty and use the terminal. After trying out a lot of things I got it working with runnnig

sudo service sddm restart

followed by

sudo kwin_wayland --replace

. Putting that into a script that runs on wake gives me a somewhat working suspend/wake, but my session is lost every time.

Re: Black screen freeze after wake from sleep

Did you try whether instead https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Lin … ement.html gets you a somewhat more working suspend/wake, w/o trashing your session?

Yes I looked at that as well but it didn't really help. Also looking at the ReadMe of the newer drivers it seems that this configuration is now done automatically on installation. https://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Lin … ement.html

Re: Black screen freeze after wake from sleep

Did you use the nvidia installer to install the driver?

systemctl nvidia-suspend.service
