Installing ATI (fglrx) driver

I am following the instructions in the Article "ATI Radeon&Kernel 2.6" in the Arch wiki.  (I am running Arch 0.7.2)

Running aticonfig put reasonable entries into xorg.conf---but it installed  a new folder in /lib/modules--entitled "2.6.18xxx" and put the fglrx.ko file there.  First hint of trouble, maybe??---since I am running 2.6.16.

I moved the file to the 2.6.16xxx and tried to run modprobe to install it.  The error message:  Cannot find file /lib/modules/2.6.16xxx/kernel/drivers/video/fglrx.ko
Really strange since I was in that directory looking at the file!!

Obviously, I am missing some basic step.  What is doubly frustrating is that I had 0.7.1 all working some months ago and I don't remember having this much trouble.

Re: Installing ATI (fglrx) driver

The kernel module in the ati-fglrx package only works with the latest kernel! It won't work with kernel 2.6.16 anymore unless you rebuild that package. Please update your system first.
Just run (as root):

pacman -Syu
pacman -S ati-fglrx

Bingo!!!---I'll try it ASAP
I was reading a thread about the holes in Arch documentation---the advice pointed to contributing to the exsiting wiki.  Perhaops I will do that once things are working
