On brave and firefox youtube hangs after the first couple of frames. This started yesterday. I tried a reboot, and that fixed it yesterday, but not today. Vimeo appears to run just fine in those browsers. Any ideas what is going on? I have tried turning off all blockers, as I know that Alphabet companies are evil - but that doesn't seem to be it.

Do mpv+yt-dlp or youtube-viewer (AUR) still work?
Chromium?

No, none of those work either.
I just tried the latest updates to the kernel. No way to run Youtube at all. I can run it on my TV - same router and broadband.

Can you download a youtube video w/ yt-dlp?

Okay. I could not, but now I can. And the browser pages are also working again. I had tried rebooting, several times, and also checked that it was not due to suspending, which I also use a lot to minimise power usage. So it is now, inexplicably, back and working. Thank you for your help @seth.

I'm experiencing exactly the same problem. Both in Chrome and Firefox.
I've disabled HW accelaration in Chrome settings to get the video playing for now.
