Re: xf86EnableIO (Operation not permitted)

I think that the problem is related with that:

Section "InputClass"
	Identifier "touchpad"
	Driver "libinput"
	MatchIsTouchpad "on"
	Option "Tapping" "on"
	Option "TappingButtonMap" "lrm"
	Option "NaturalScrolling" "true"
EndSection

You're starting X11 w/ xinit/startx? See the last link below.

Sidebar:

make sure ("glxinfo -B") that you're not running on software emulation (by reports the error might be spurious) - otherwise use the modesetting driver (remove xf86-video-intel) or use mesa-amber if your IGP is too old.

Re: xf86EnableIO (Operation not permitted)

Yes I'm using startx with the following xinitrc

#!/bin/sh

userresources=$HOME/.Xresources

if [ -f "$userresources" ]; then
    xrdb -merge "$userresources"
fi

# standalone compositor for Xorg
picom &

# udisks2 automounter
udiskie &

# notification-daemon
dunst &

# wallpaper
~/.fehbg &

exec i3
