Printing using cup on a mfc-:8900cdw

Hello,

This is my first post on the Arch Linux wiki. I installed arch Linux about 1 week ago. So far I really like it but it was quite the learning curve.

I am now trying to get my printer to work, a brother mfc-L8900CDW. I started by installing cups and system-config-printer. I then found AUR package for the driver:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/brother-mfc-l8900cdw

So I installed that as well. Now I get send a printer self-page to it and it works. However, the normal test page or anything else does not.

The printer seems to support multiple protocols since I can use ipp, socket, http, etc to get that self-test page to print.

All non-self page do say complete in the printer queue but do not print....which is very puzzling to me.

Thanks in advance,
paranoidAndroid

Re: Printing using cup on a mfc-:8900cdw

Printing problems can be tedious.

Here are some simple thoughts on this:
- Reboot your system to rule out simple problems.
- Verify you have followed all steps in the CUPS installation guide.
- Read the troubleshooting page and look for errors in your logs.
