Ethernet card, network configuration and http...

Dear all,

I ma very happy, because I installed Arch on my laptop.  I proceed step by step because I am newby to linux environment.

Arch works fine, screen, mouse, all X11 configuration.

Today I'd like configure ethernet card in order to connect my laptotp to network in office.

The ethernet card is Sis 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter.

How and where I should configure it?  In the rc.conf?
After it, where I should configure network (IP, gateway, proxy, DNS...?)?

Please, help me, because I'd like upgrade the system via pacman.

Ciao.
Luca.

Re: Ethernet card, network configuration and http...

sis 900: edit /etc/rc.conf and add sis900 to the modules you want to load. Also in this file you add ip-adress, gatewat etc. You will see what I mean smile

Your dns-server should be added in /etc/resolv.conf.
