setting up dual monitors with only a single port

I am trying to set dual monitors but my laptop has only a single HDMI port. Both monitors have VGA outputs. I am using a VGA splitter with one input and 2 outputs like shown here to connect the monitors to my computer. I am also using an VGA to HDMI converter which works perfectly.

Running arandr shows that I have only 2 outputs (one of which is my laptop screen) and the output on both monitors is same. Meaning that whatever is shown in the first external monitor, the same thing is shown on the other one too. Is there any way I could possibly solve this issue? Or is it entirely a hardware issue? Any help or even insights will be highly appreciated thank you.

Re: setting up dual monitors with only a single port

One port generates signal for single monitor. Such kind of splitters just split analog signal (at best with impedance matching), thus no any additional monitors can be detected.

Re: setting up dual monitors with only a single port

As noted by dimich, not gonna happen w/ this approach.
You also cannot daisychain HDMI (unlike displayport)
There's however https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DisplayLink and many modern notebooks have a USB-C/DP hybrid port
Sure your device has only one hdmi output and not an additional DP or (for "older" models even) VGA output?
