Can not login to my user

I had a 40GB partition. After growing it to 140GB and restoring all the data from backup, I updated the partition UUIDs and ran grub mkconfig. I am now prompted with the login screen for my user. The error message says:

Sorry, password authentication didn't work, please try again

I have tried the following but I still get the same error/

Re: Can not login to my user

My hdd is ntfs, and I think my root is ext4. Will booting into windows and making an ext4 partition on which I can copy the data to work?

Re: Can not login to my user

no the damage is done, all your filesystem permissions are gone, ntfs does not support linux/posix file permissions, i mean you could technically fix it but it would be a mammoth task, best to just reinstall
