Hi,
Have recently joined a company with a complex app. When helping me set up to run the app locally, a senior backend dude asked which distro I was using. After I said Arch he said, "that complicates things".
I'm still relatively junior to webdev having got my start in blockchain with smart contracts. The backend of this app is Ruby on Rails so maybe he was referring to that being notoriously finnicky to set up.
But as far as I can tell, installing programs like pgAdmin, postgres, elasticsearch etc is a little more time consuming but that's it.
What am I missing? Please enlighten.
Thanks in advance.

If it is ruby that is the problem, you could maybe look into https://rvm.io/
| alias CUTF='LANG=en_XX.UTF-8@POSIX ' |

It may not be that Arch complicates things, it may simply be that someone not using the default distro, whatever that is, makes everyone's lives harder.

Did you ask "a senior backend dude" what he meant by "that complicates things"?
Because while everyone else can *speculate* what he meant, he probably *knows*.

@seth You're definitely right, I could just ask him and will, however just wanted more general perspective on peoples' use of Arch for web development.
