System freezes increasingly often, Firefox suspected

Hi,

My laptop is freezing increasingly often. When these freezes happen, I can usually, but not always, still move my mouse, and sometimes, do simple things, though it seems the longer the freeze holds, the worse it becomes. I don't know the reason, but I'm suspecting Firefox, which always eats my RAM. In particular, if I leave my laptop running for a few minutes without doing anything, Firefox will use up almost all of the RAM and often most of the swap and be frozen until I stop the process. This usually doesn't happen when I'm actively using the laptop, but now I'm getting these system freezes, and I suspect the two are related. Right now I'm using ungoogled chrome and I will watch out whether it freezes the laptop too, but since the freezes are highly unpredictable and have only today become really frequent, this method can't rule out that it's not Firefox. Anyway, here are the last ca. 100 lines of

Re: System freezes increasingly often, Firefox suspected

You are running out of memory/swap, it seems. Start narrowing down which process is consuming all your RAM/Swap with top or any process monitoring tool. Create a new user with all system/DE defaults and log in as that user, does the problem persist?
