KVM ZFS optmization

Hi folks
I am running arch 5.15.45-1-lts with KVM on a 120 GB SSD the SSD is the boot\system drive i then have three 2.TB spinning rust drives in a raidz 1-0 config. The server is a Supermicro Xeon 3.40 Ghz 4 core xeon cpu with 16
GB ECC RAM.

My issue is trying to get VM's to run properly on the spinning disks specifically metasplotable3 it fails to build because it is very slow on the spinning disks and the build times out. I am wondering if people have run VM's on arch before with zfs on the VM storage and what optimization did you do to run VM's?

Any suggestions welcome
