Do I have to install additional NVIDIA drivers?

Hello there.

I freshly installed Arch Linux with the archinstall script. I chose the NVIDIA proprietary drivers in the archinstall GUI.
Now my question is: Do I have to install any additional NVIDIA drivers? Or is everything already set up for me when choosing that option?

You need to make sure you install the right driver for your graphics card:

That isn't automatically done by choosing the proprietary driver option?

If not so, what's the point of the proprietary driver selection?

Yeah, that's understandable. However, what's the point of the NVIDIA proprietary driver installation option? What benefits does it offer me when it can't recognize the GPU I have?

No idea. And I could not care less about the script, so I have no intention of reading it to find out.

As someone who has never used an install script, I have no idea neither but I' think the assumptions here are slightly misguided. You assume that the script will detect your GPU but my feeling is the script assumes you actually know your GPU.

How about, we just take look at it?

lspci -k

Since the install script will hopefully not shovel any AUR packages onto your disk, there's actually just one proprietary nvidia driver and it either supports your GPU or it doesn't.
Since installing it will blacklist nouveau and leave you w/o any GPU support, the rule of thumb would be that https://wallhere.com/en/wallpaper/1341339 - and it might be reasonable for the installer to test the support before offering a driver that will effectively break the setup.
