video card works with nv drivers but not nvidia drivers.

Hi my Nvidia Geforce 7300 card works with the nv driver but not the nvidia driver. I tried it with the 8776 driver but no luck I start x and I freeze, having to reboot. However, when I try with the nvidia-beta drivers it works for like 10 secs then i freeze.
