I have recently switched to Wayland with Hyprland and I'm trying to use
unetbootin. However, while under Xorg+Qtile it first asked for password (in polkit-gnome dialog) and launched successfully, now it asks for the password and after fails with the following message:
Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified
qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display :0
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, wayland-egl, wayland, wayland-xcomposite-egl, wayland-xcomposite-glx, xcb.
/sbin/unetbootin: line 9: 5547 Aborted (core dumped) pkexec --disable-internal-agent '/usr/bin/unetbootin.elf' "$@"As I already mentioned, this only happens under Wayland (+Hyprland, haven't tried other ones). I've tried setting
export QT_QPA_PLATFORM=to wayland, xcb, but none changed the error appearing nor its message. Also, from what I've found,
xhost +local:should help, but it didn't.

I wouldn't recommend using that software, but FWIW
Thanks, that worked. Searched through Wayland article before, but never would've guessed the one I needed had such an obscure name)
Also, could you tell why is using unetbootin not advisable in your opinion?

Basically for the same reason that caused your "issue" - i call that a feature...
