I have live booted from a USB disk on a MacBook 2013 air and IP link only outputs lo:
if i do iwctl and do devices list it shows nothing
and since I can't access the internet I can't move forward with the installation and install arch

The path of least resistance it to share the Wireless connection of a phone using a USB tether. When you enable the USB tether, the phone will appear to the host computer as a wired Ethernet. Just use dhcpcd to get an address IP address and you are good to go. Then you can install Arch, and whatever you need to get your WiFi going.
