Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

is pacman going to remove just python3.8 or all the listed packages? I want to think I'm safe, but I'm not sure.

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

How many other packages are listed?
What is the projected change?
Also look at the "Total removed size" and compare that to the size of any other package (esp. python38)

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

A lot of packages are listed as "optionally requiring python" when I run

The way it's worded, I can't tell if it is referring to python38 or the entire list that preceded it. It wants to remove 160MiB of data, but /usr/bin/python3.8 is 14k in size.

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

From post #19

pacman -Qi python38

Name : python38
Version : 3.8.13-2
...
Installed Size : 116.60 MiB

Edit:
You could also compare the output of the following

# pacman -R python38
# pacman -R python
# pacman -Rc python

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

ok. thank you. I don't have any other boot images at the moment, and after last week, when my root btrfs went read-only on me, I'm just a bit gun-shy.

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

Hi, I'm getting the same error shown here, is there a way you can summarize what I would need to do to get pip working again?

Side note: I'm surprised this is the only result Google has for this...

I tried deleting the ~/.local version of the "packages" folder, but it popped up with the same error on the file in /usr/lib!

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

TheoGaming, had you also installed a second version of Python from the AUR?  If this is not the exact same cause, I am going to suggest you start a new thread.

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

Interestingly, it seems that only 2 python packages were installed through pacman -S: python2 and python-pip (from attempting a fix)

Commands used:

pacman -Qq | grep python
pacman -Qqe | grep python

Re: [solved]python pip no longer installing packages

This does not appear to have the same cause as shoelesshunter.  Please start a new thread for your issue.
