lightdm-settings i3 polkit

i'm having a very weird behavior from this app
polkit works perfect on every other program

if i launch lightdm-settings from dmenu, the polkit program doens't show up and nothing happens
inside the lightdm-settings.desktop file there's this content (i left all the translation out):

Exec=pkexec lightdm-settings
Icon=lightdm-settings
StartupNotify=true
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=GNOME;GTK;Settings;System;XFCE;X-XFCE-SettingsDialog;X-XFCE-SystemSettings;
X-KDE-SubstituteUID=true

if i try:

pkexec lightdm-settings

from terminal it works fine and the polkit popup shows.. what am i missing?
why it isn't working if called from dmenu?
