Is it possible to improve the jagged-edges in games?

Greetings, i for a while have been wondering if it is at all possible to improve the jaggy-edges that you are able to see in games on systems using nvidia or amd? I know that the nvidia x.org settings have sliders that supposedly increases or override the aa and filtering but they seem to either not be effective or kind of not work at all in certain situations, is there possibly another way to decrease the jaggedness of corners in all apps requiring 3D processing?
