I'm having a problem, which, whenever I have xdg-desktop-portal in any of it's implementations (kde, gtk, gnome, lxde) installed, firefox, and other gtk apps take around 20 seconds to startup. I've read all over the forums, and while I don't understand how dbus works, most people where having a deadlock issue, or something similar, which I can confirm. I'm running dwm, and need xdg-desktop-portal for obs to install and screen capture. I'm using pipewire, which I think is what makes it necessary to have it installed. I'm not sure what to do, every single thing I've tried to do using the forums (except uninstalling it, which isn't really an option for me) doesn't work for me.

Neither https://archlinux.org/packages/communit … bs-studio/ nor https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/pipewire/ require flatpak or any xdg-portal
Check the last link below because of
I'm running dwm
and otherwise did you try to mask the service, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 4#p1954864 ?

Forgot to mention, but I'm running obs-studio-git since it does include the virtual camera feature, which is from the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/obs-studio-git). It does require xdg-desktop-portal and pipewire to properly build.

Ok, again: check the last link below (if you're using xinit) - it's the most common cause for this kind of problem.

I do have my xinitrc setup correctly, all it does is run xprofile and start dwm using ssh-agent. I already tried masking the service and it doesn't work at all. I'ma try installing obs-git without installing xdg-desktop-portal, seeing as it isn't completely required.

all it does is run xprofile and start dwm using ssh-agent
means it's broken. Open the link and pay attention to the note of what you need to include there…
