I tried to install the nvidia drivers so that i could use cuda with pytorch. After installing the nvidia drivers using pacman, my computer will no longer boot into SDDM / KDE pasma. The boot hangs at the following message:
starting version 251.3-1-arch
/dev/nvme0n1p7: clean, 649267/9723904 files, 13522130/38868480 blocks
If i remove quiet from my grub parameters, I see that it hangs at:
[ OK ] Reached target Graphical Interface.
Starting Hostname Service...
[ OK ] Started Hostname Service.
I can still use the terminal by pressing ctrl + alt + f2.
When running `pacman -Qs nvidia` I can see that i have installed version 515.57-1 of the driver:
local/cuda 11.7.0-2
NVIDIA's GPU programming toolkit
local/egl-wayland 2:1.1.10-1
EGLStream-based Wayland external platform
local/libvdpau 1.5-1
NVIDIA NV-CONTROL X extension
local/nvidia 515.57-10
NVIDIA drivers for linux
local/nvidia-settings 515.57-1
Tool for configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver
local/nvidia-utils 515.57-1
NVIDIA drivers utilities
local/opencl-nvidia 515.57-1
OpenCL implementation for NVIDIA
I am still new to arch so I am unsure how to debug this but it seems as if the driver is unable to start correctly.
The computer is still picking up my GPU correctly, as it shows when i run `lspci -k | grep -A 2 -E "(VGA|3D)"`:
07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation TU104 [GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER] (rev a1)
Subsystem: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd Device 4008
Kernel modules: noveau
Running `nvidia-smi` displays the following errror mesage:
NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the Nvidia driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
So i then ran `sudo dmesg | grep nvidia` to see that there is a timeout error:
[ 3.305833] nvidia-gpu 000:0700.3: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[ 4.590228] nvidia-gpu 000:0700.3: i2c timeout error e0000000
Seeing "Kernel modules: noveau" is concerning because I believe that noveau should be disabled once the nvidia drivers are installed. I tried to disable noveau by creating a file at "/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf" which contains:
blacklist noveau
Would anybody have some pointers on what i could do next to try and fix this?

Please post the full system journal for a boot with the issue.

I have uploaded logs from my most recent boot here: https://pastebin.com/xjLC3a9Y
Failed to find module 'nvidia-uvm'
Seems like it could be the cause...

You're bootinglinux 5.18.12 but nvidia 515.57-10 is a rebuild for linux 5.18.15.arch1-1
=> "pacman -Syu", don't conduct partial updates.

I tried running "sudo pacman -Syu" It is not committing the updates due to errors. I redirected stdout to a file to display here:

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
The errors that appear relate to packages being corrupt (PGP Signature), i get the option to each package that errors but once i go through the entire list the whole process aborts due to these errors.
The packages that have this error are:
> libcap
> libtiff
> lame
> lv2
> serd
> sord
> sratom
All of these packages have a signature from "David Runge <dvzrv@archlinux.org>"

Use code tags, not quote tags
pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring
pacman -SyuOffline
Was able to run "pacman -Syu" and now my display manager is loading. Thanks for the help!
