The following update has broken Steam OpenGL games for me:
lib32-nvidia-utils (515.57-1 -> 515.65.01-1)
causing steam games to throw an error when attempting to start:
"Failed to create GL context: Could not create GL context: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
I have literally no idea where to report this other than here, I had the issue but downgrading the package fixed it. I guess advise people to not update the package for now or to downgrade it if their games dont work is all I can really do.
Update: I'm entirely unsure if AimLab uses OpenGL. If it doesn't, it breaks more than OpenGL games.

That's normal, you need to reboot after actual driver version changes of the nvidia driver because the kernel module version and your userspace needs to match.
If you still have problems after a reboot, make sure you are booting the correct kernel and that it loads the correct nvidia modules, note that if you added the nvidia modules to your initramfs you need to ensure that got regenerated.

When I saw 'lib32-nvidia-utils' I thought they were the 32 bit 'libraries' for the nvidia driver 'utils'. Didn't even think of rebooting.

You will also have seen nvidia-utils and nvidia update in that same transaction. You generally need to reboot when you see the actual package version change (i.e. 515.57-1 -> 515.65.01-1 ) if just the last number after the dash it will be a pkgrel rerelease of the same version and you might not have to reboot depending on what was changed, but you will generally not often see that happen for the userspace libs in nvidia-utils
