Sound broke after uninstalling KDE [SOLVED]

I removed KDE this afternoon. After doing so I am unable to get any sound out of my headphones. I have had arch for a while and sound has worked perfectly with alsa up until now. My headphones work with other devices so that isn't the problem, I also tried just playing through the laptop speakers.
Output of speaker-test

speaker-test 1.2.7

Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:999:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave

I don't believe I have any config for sound on my system.
When using alsamixer I get three sound cards

default:0 HDA NVidia
default:1 HD-Audio Generic
default:2 HD-Audio Generic

I use default:2 when controlling volume (or at least I used to)
I have both an nvidia discrete gpu and an amd integrated gpu and use optimus-manager to switch between them.
I use i3 as a WM and sddm for a display manager.
Edit: Sound does work on the windows partition

HACKY FIX BEWARE!!! (good fix below)
I remembered that as well as updating I uninstalled kde plasma, and for some reason after reinstalling and rebooting it all worked again.
If anyone knows why this is and how to not need kde installed then that would be amazing.

Please post the output of

tail -n300 /var/log/pacman.log

(Increase the number of lines 'tail' will print before posting, in case the output doesn't cover all of pacman's transactions from today (and yesterday?))

I already verified that it was something to do with the plasma-meta package, not the update.

By uninstalling 'plasma-meta' you probably (the log is incomplete) removed 'pulseaudio' along with 'plasma-pa'. Since i3 doesn't depend on it (or any other package, for that matter), you were left without your "working" sound server. So reinstalling 'pulseaudio' should suffice in order get audio working again... EDIT: If you want to use just alsa, and sound doesn't work properly, please post your xorg log.
