Kernel Issue: Unable to save Matalb models since 5.18.10

Hi,

in another thread [1] we have come to the conclusion that since Kernel 5.18.10 saving models in Matlab Simulink are not working anymore. The error message is

Error writing file ".../test.slx": Failed to close the package: "Invalid cross-device link (18)."

Downgrading to <=Linux 5.18.9 resolves the issue.

Do you have any idea how can we investigate this issue further? Or as Lone_Wolf put it:

Lone_Wolf wrote:

The PKGBUILD for linux shows only a change in $pkgver between 5.18.9 and 5.18.10 which does suggest it's not a a packaging issue .

I do think some more verification/testing and attention from people with insight in kernel issues would be good, but newbie corner is not the best place for that.

OP hasn't posted since starting this thread, is someone else who encounters this bug willing to start a new thread in kernel & hardware ?
(make sure to mention it's kernel related in the new thread title )

Best

Manuel

Hi,

same issue here. Almost ruined my exam today, kernel downgrade saved it.

I'd be happy to investigate the problem further if anyone could point me where to start.

Re: Kernel Issue: Unable to save Matalb models since 5.18.10

I tried to install matlab 2022b under archlinux, and encountered this problem. It has been confirmed that the problem also exists on manjaro, but it does not exist on ubuntu.
We tried the LTS, 5.19 and 6.0 kernels, but  couldn't solve this problem.
This seems to be caused by matlab creating a link from /tmp to the target directory.
In archlinux, I used the df command and confirmed that the/tmp directory was mounted as tmpfs, but ubuntu did not.
According to the following wiki about tmpfs(section 4.1), it can be solved. But I haven't tried it yet. Who can verify it.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Tmpfs

Who can verify this method, and kindly tell me the result.

What prevents you from testing this yourself?

Time to ditch Matlab for Spyder.
