Screen brightness does not change on HP Victus 15 fb0000 Laptop

Despite the system registering a change in

/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/brightness

, there is little to no visible difference in screen brightness. I have tried using the brightness keys on the keyboard, the brightnessctl program, and directly editing the brightness file.

All 3 methods appear to make only very small changes in the actual brightness. The screen is always dark, but 0 is the darkest, 1 is the brightest (but not by much) and it slowly gets darker as I go up to 255.

Is it possible that this is a driver issue, and if so, what would I need to install to fix it?

Just fishing -- Is amdgpu_b10 the only directory under /sys/class/backlight?

Yes, it is the only directory, should there be one for the nvidia GPU?

Could be.  Unfortunately, I know little about Nvidia GPUs.  I've seen similar issues with Intel graphics and Nvidias -- that is why I probed this hoping to get things moving by exposing more info.

Unfortunately, there is not much more info that I can give apart from all the failed troubleshooting techniques that I tried.
If it helps, I used archinstall for the installation.

Update: /sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/actual_brightness is always zero
It should be changing right?
