[SOLVED] VMware - modprobe vmmon just hangs, no error

Hi,

I've been trying to install the latest VMware Workstation Pro using the AUR package, I have the linux headers as instructed but neither rebooting nor manually loading the necessary kernel modules works.

In fact using

sudo modprobe vmmon

simply hangs. It doesn't return, it doesn't complain, I don't get an error, it just does not continue. Running it with verbose also doesn't give any more information. I've searched the forum and Google and didn't find anything related and I have no idea how to even debug the issue - what could make modprobe hang at all?

Any ideas?

Edit: Okay so apparently vmmon is actually loaded according to lsmod. I let myself get fooled by Workstation Pro which says it can't find /dev/vmmon and to make sure the module is loaded, so the issue is different, the module seems loaded but no /dev/vmmon is created.
Edit2: Alright then it turns out it's just the previously solved problem of VMware having issues with IBT, adding "ibt=off" to the kernel paramters as per https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=277282 fixed it.
