Sony's .arw raw photo files don't show thumbnails in Nautilus.

Well sometimes they do. But mostly they don't.

Let me explain. I just did a fresh Arch install a couple of days ago. All files I had on my internal SSD, previous of said install don't show thumbnails. However, oddly enough, all new files I download from my SD cards after said install will show thumbnails, just fine.

What I did do, post install, was to edit

/usr/share/thumbnailers/ufraw.thumbnailer

and add a bunch of raw file extension types, including SONY's .arw. While this does make Nautilus show thumbnails for newly created files on the disk, it does not for existing ones.

I tried

nautilus -q

and

rm -rf ~/.cache/thumbnails/*

but it still does not work.

Aparently this works, to some extent, but it’s very slow as it processes all the raw files and my raws are all huge 36MP and 42MP files and I have tens of thounsands of them… it’s gonna take a while…

Any ideas?
